Summer History Dig for Children

LOCATION: The Thomas Halsey Homestead, 249 South Main Street, Southampton Village

DATE & TIME:   Weekly beginning July 11th through August 29 th;  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

FEE: $400.00 per week and includes a healthy box lunch that includes a hearty sandwich with fresh local fruits and vegetables. Class size is limited to 12 campers per week, ages 12 and up.

DESCRIPTION: Campers will discuss what life was like for the hunters and gatherers who lived in the region thousands of years ago. The group will excavate and interpret three simulated sites and be instructed in the techniques professional field archaeologist. Campers will also learn how to wash, identify and analyze artifacts. Dig Hampton Director Jonathan Hudson says the program “was formed to conduct archaeological excavations and interdisciplinary scientific research of cultural remains with the hope of educating students, all while having fun.”
