Bridgehampton School Board Makes Several Year-End Appointments

Subs, custodian and clerk appointed.

The  Board voted Wednesday to act on the financial recommendations of Superintendent Lois Favre, and to make several personnel decisions.

It was the last school board meeting of the year and the public portion was brief — less than 40 minutes  — but in that short amount of time, the board took care of some important business.

The board set the date of the school district budget vote and school board election for May 17, 2011. The members also accepted the revenue budget status report for 2010-2011, as well as the appropriation status report from the same period.

Board members voted to appoint Joseph Jenkins to the position of custodial worker, effective Jan. 3, while Marianne Finnerty and Brittnee Sabatino were confirmed in substitute teaching positions, both effective Dec. 16. Laura Spillane was appointed account clerk on a part-time basis, effective Dec. 15.

The district's SAT prep course will begin in January. To make the course more cost-effective, it will be taught by district staff for the first time. The course is free for Bridgehampton residents and costs $125 for non-residents. It will meet on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30, beginning on a date to be announced.
