New Fortune for Former Fortunoff? [Empty in Southampton]

6,000-square-foot retail building on Southampton's eastern edge is a prime location, but vacant.

A retail building in a highly trafficked and highly visible spot at the Southampton-Water Mill border is awaiting a new tenant.

The building was formerly occupied by Fortunoff, but has sat empty for some time.

The street number is 10 Montauk Highway, Southampton, though mapping websites have trouble finding it. The building is located near the corner of Flying Point Road and Montauk Highway, to the west of Princess Diner, and just two doors down from Pier 1 Imports.

According to the Ripco Real Estate Corp. listing, the retail building is 6,000-square-feet, with 33 parking spaces.

"This is a statement building," the listing reads. "A very affluent and educated customer must pass this site regularly. It must be seen and passed for all residents and visitors traveling to and from Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Montauk, Amagansett, Sagaponack and Water Mill."

The interior of the building needs at least some work before a new business can move in — the drop ceiling was removed and the air ducts are stretched out to the floor.

The building is available for sale or lease, but Ripco states that the price is only available on request.
