Wright Replaces Wruck as GOP Chair

Ernest Wruck steps aside after two years leading the Southampton Town Republican Committee.

The Southampton Town Republican Committee on Thursday unanimously elected , 32, of East Quogue as its new chairman.

Wright replaces Ernest Wruck, who decided to step down to focus on his law practice, according to a GOP committee statement.

"I have had the privilege to serve this organization and community for two years as leader and am confident that we will be victorious at the polls in November," Wruck was quoted as saying in the statement.

Wright is a Southampton native and the senior loan officer and branch manager at on Main Street in Southampton Village. He graduated from in 1998 and went on to earn a degree in marketing and finance from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. After college, he became an intern at UBS in New York, but he did not stay long before returning to the East End. “As great as Manhattan is, it’s not for me,” he said during . He also blogs on Patch about home buying and mortgages.

In the GOP statement, he said, "I look forward to our message of less spending, lower taxes and government reform resonating at the polls in November and believe that the future remains bright for the Southampton Town Republican Party."

Wright named David J. Gilmartin Jr. as vice chairman, Theresa Kiernan, the town tax receiver, as secretary and Brian C. Doyle as treasurer.
