VIDEO: Demonstrators March Against Koch, Romney in the Hamptons

Protestors target David Koch's fundraiser for GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney.

Though liberal demonstrators were not permitted to pass a — keeping them far away from David Koch's Meadow Lane estate where — they still marched down the Southampton Village ocean road carrying a "Romney Had a Koch Problem" banner and chanted their rallying cries.

A small group of about five Romney supporters, including one carrying a sign that read "Mitt Romney Is It," were permitted by the police and Secret Service to hold their closer to the estate.

Patch photos and video show 50-75. Where were the rest?
David D'Agostino July 09, 2012 at 02:34 AM
What did you do, GJ, count each individual person in the photos? There were more people arriving all of the time on buses, perhaps the patch photo was taken before then. I was there, I saw the numbers and local law enforcement confirms the number - http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/08/protesters-demonstrate-outside-of-koch-fund-raiser-for-romney/

I can only imagine the look of fear that would be on Luvy and Thurston's faces had those 'commoners' made it into the actual neighboorhood.
Happy Feet July 09, 2012 at 07:07 AM
hey Jaguar-Guy, are you still here? Why don't YOU go home? How many jags do you own? Are you a 1%-er? From your past remarks, it sure seems so!
Happy Feet July 09, 2012 at 07:24 AM
Check out the pix from the Southampton Patch...much better. Not everyone went to the beach. About half the people stayed back on the road b/c they were too tired or too hot to take the 20-minute walk to the beach and 20 minutes back. Other people went home around 5:15, having been there since before 3pm.

I love it! All the mud slinging and uninformed rhetoric casting. It will be so much fun to say I told you so when the 99% have to sell their souls, their first born, and their freedom, in order to pay for Obama Care. When all those who worked hard their entire lives, paying taxes, and paying up front for their Social Security and Medicare, live to see Obama Care cut 1/2 of their coverage away to pay for people who are too lazy to get a job, or lack the discipline to get off drugs, etcetera. Yea what a victory the 99% have. And what is so absolutely amazing, is that the very people angry at the 1% are responsible for the 1% by dismantling the Medicare program and handing it over to the private sector (aka Insurance Companies) owned by the 1%. Brilliant! If only you had actually read what is in the bill, and equally important, what was removed from Obama's bill in order to increase the wealth of a few at our expense. Now before the name-callers and hate mongers respond to this post, I must inform you, I am NOT a 1%er. I am a Constitutionalist Republican. I make less than 30,000 a year, and I pay taxes. I did not support Bush Jr. fascism and I don't believe you can legislate morality. The religious beliefs belong to individuals, their church, and their deity, NOT in legislation. But just as the religious right is wrong for imposing their beliefs on others, so are the extreme opposites for attempting to deny the beliefs of the religious right. Now have fun attacking me.

Hey, clemenzia, Yeah...our summer homes are exactly the same as our winter homes. I'm a single parent whose kids worked their way through college during school and summers waiting tables, working at Friendly's...just like their dad & I did. No fancy colleges...just state schools. Romney, Kochs and their ilk care nothing about middle class people like you and your kids...and their policies and politics show it. The Kochs are polluting the air, land, and water with their poisons from their factories while people in nearby communities are dying of cancer & lung disease from the factory waste. They buy legislators to make laws exempting them from policies that would protect "we the people." Wake up to the truth...I'm an educator..turn off FOX news and read the Huffington post online and other sources for a different...and true... point of view! You won't find out the truth on the conventional media. You are being brainwashed!
Happy Feet July 09, 2012 at 02:45 PM
Yet you assume that the only people who are uninsured are the lazy or the undisciplined....how sad! You are out of touch with reality. I think my friend who had cancer and can't get coverage because of her pre-existing condition, who works 3 jobs to survive (and none of them give her insurance), would heartily disagree...as I do. I am sure the ACA will have to be refined and tweaked, but it is a beginning. I hope it eventually leads to a single-payer system, like other civilized countries have. There is no reason why a wealthy country like the US should have 50 million people uninsured! The private insurance companies might have to deal with making less profit than they do because now they can pick and choose who they will insure.
Jaguar-Guy July 09, 2012 at 03:08 PM
Sure, switch to Huffington Post and drink the cool aid too. Suggest going from one extreme to another that's good. Everyone should think for themselves !!!!
Jaguar-Guy July 09, 2012 at 03:13 PM
Great Post - buckle your seatbelt - here come the attacks for having an opinion that is not in step with theirs.
Preliator July 09, 2012 at 03:54 PM
Hey a round of applause for the Douchebaggers taking time out from their lattes and i-phones to wander around and chant badly.
Dona Kae July 09, 2012 at 05:10 PM
I'm confused, did you say "Confrontationalist" Republican? An attitude found most typically in those looking for someone to oppose them so that they can cry foul and proclaim that they are being oppressed. Why would anyone want to attack you when informing you of the factual points that you are misinformed about would be more astute, though perhaps inane.
richard jessup July 13, 2012 at 06:54 PM
Do we want a President who believes his god lives on another planet? He has a password and a handshake to get into heaven! Why is this not a concern?
Jaguar-Guy July 13, 2012 at 08:25 PM
God created the Universe and I believe that God is everywhere. If you believe that God is Earth-bound, do you think God could be limited to a particular Continent, like only Australia?? Not arguing (a rare one I know). Thanks.
richard jessup July 14, 2012 at 06:30 AM
It dosent matter what you believe! You're not running for president! Mitt Romney believes along with every other Mormon that his God lives in flesh and bone on a planet named Kobol or something like that! Is that ok with America! Is it really!!!
richard jessup July 14, 2012 at 06:39 AM
Wasnt it bad enough with Bush and it dosent seem anyone is too happy with Obama now we want a crazy Mormon! Whats going on America?
Dona Kae July 14, 2012 at 09:11 AM
No way....I find it hard to believe these conservative christians have no problem with a person running for president who believes he will be a God someday with his own planet full of *spirit wives*. Wonder how Ann feels about it, will Mitt really give her the password to go with him? Jesus Christ and Satan were never brothers in what I was taught.
Dona Kae July 14, 2012 at 09:14 AM
The mormon's not a black man. Crazy white old confederates have spoken....it doesn't matter who they have to vote for as long as it's not the black man.
George Soros July 14, 2012 at 10:26 AM
I paid that woman in the foreground to hold that sign up as high as she could! Now I'm mad, I gave her cash, ecstasy, calling cards and gift certificate to olive garden and she didn't hold that sign up high enough!
Jaguar-Guy July 14, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Well, we have a Muslim for President now - which does not matter to me. So, why would I care what Wilbur believes - do not care. Vote how you feel.
Jaguar-Guy July 14, 2012 at 11:08 AM
Dona - the race is about 47% to 47% (a statistical tie with the margin of error). I hardly think that 47% of the U.S. are crazy white confederates. Also, I do believe that Obama won resoundingly in 2008, and kicked the white guys ass. So, America is not so racist as you make out (in my opinion). Lastly, did anyone hear Morgan Freeman on NPR say that "Obama is not a black man" and is not our first black president ?? Freeman said that "we have yet to elect our first black president" because Obama had a white mother. Pretty outrageous. I am surprised more people have not heard about this one . . . . .
pat July 14, 2012 at 11:11 AM
I think we should have got past the whole idiotic "Muslim president" comments enough by now to make it politically correct to say that if that is what you believe, you are a real dope.
George Soros July 14, 2012 at 12:52 PM
Hey, I should know, I bankrolled the entire campaign. This was a statement by Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit on Nile-TV. It was made on the «Round table show». This is the statement recorded: Adul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, where the US President told him that He was still a Muslim, the son of a Muslim father, the step son of Muslim stepfather, that his half brothers in Kenya are Muslims, and that he was sympathetic towards the Muslim agenda. Adul Gheit claimed Obama told the Arabs to show patience. Obama promised that once he overcame some domestic issues, like the Health care reform, he would show the Muslim World how to deal with Israel. Source: Israeli magazine, Israel today.
richard jessup July 14, 2012 at 11:41 PM
It's not outrageous what Morgan Freeman said. He said Obama is our first mixed race president. It's true! But at least it's a start because we're a country filled with mixed race people. The color of "The Man" is changing finally!

Am I the only one deeply concerned with how divided the UNITED STATES of AMERICA has become? "United we stand, divided we fall." As a reporter dealing with elected officials as well as every day citizens, I learned that there are good people on both sides of this contentious debate. There are hardworking and successful Liberal Arts majors and there are caring, generous and deserving BMW owners. This fear-based Us against Them mentality has got to stop! And what ever happened to the separation of Church and State?
