Tom Dewick just proved the point that I just made. They got nothing but cheap shots and name calling. If asked to back up their claims with citations and facts they cannot because they won't admit to getting their information from Fox, Limbaugh, Hannity or Beck.

99%'er? That's OWS talk farmer boy! Bankruptcy wouldn't have been an awful thing. Unemployment would be higher but the national debt would be TRILLIONS lower. People would actually have to become frugal and responsible instead of maxing their credit cards and taking out mortgages they couldn't afford and living beyond their paycheck. Oh wait, that's what they have to do now.. but guess what? Our future is on the hook for 13 Trillion! Hope it was worth it...
Bonds are a joke. Our credit rating is a joke. Obama is a joke.
Nassau Taxpayer August 11, 2012 at 05:51 pm
Try the FACTS of National Debt by Presidency on for size:

left us with then was ham strung by a Republican Congress who vowed to pass NOTHING that Obama proposed and that their most important focus was to make Obama a one term President. If Obama wins the race and the Dems take back the House and continue to have a majority in the Senate, you will see a lot of the changes that he promised. Although I am not happy with him for other reasons I will hold my nose and vote for him as the alternative is unthinkable because of the Supremes issue where in the next four years between one and three Supremes will leave the bench. If the Republicans get to appoint the justices we WILL see change but not change that will benefit the 99% in any positive way.

Nassau
Read you link, it refers to National debt and excludes state and local debt. Nor does it include unfunded pensions debt. If you include those amount as the europeans do our debt as a % of GDP is sky high and unsustainable.
Nassau Taxpayer August 11, 2012 at 06:04 pm
It says EXACTLY what it's titled, and illustrates the FRAUD perpetrated by Republicans going back to the Great Actor.
For bonus points, here's "the Ryan Budget Plan" (sic) skewered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZTrhW41-xE
Concerned August 11, 2012 at 06:09 pm
Nassau,
yes it does say just what the title states.... and it ignores debt at the state and local level, which is like an ostrich hiding its head in the sand. Our debt load is unsustainable and dramatic reforms are needed.
Nassau Taxpayer August 11, 2012 at 06:35 pm
So what do you choose? More of the record of Republican fraud on the public?
Sheldon August 11, 2012 at 06:53 pm
Joan, your definition of bank "overnight" lending is really too simplistic. Banks lend to each other at the fed funds rate first and foremost and go to the discount window to meet reserve requirements on more rare occasions as a lender of last resort and on an overnight basis. It is a system that has helped banks lend money ( that is on deposit with them at a current interest rate ) while meeting their reserve
requirements. It has been a tendency for the past few years to sit on reserves as opposed to lending money out and the Fed has been doing their best to combat this - because it does hurt the economy. Generally, people like you and me do not borrow money on an overnight basis so that we can meet reserves while we are lending money out. That is why we don't get a discount rate and pay the prime rate if our credit warrants it.
Denise Longh August 11, 2012 at 06:58 pm
John, amen to you. Its about time someone said some real truth. Its about greed and it doesn't sit on the left or right, it sits in the heart of men. If we want this country to pull out of this economy, then it is us to us, the people, not the politicians. Stop fighting eachother here and start turning your anger over toward washington. We know what we want, stop putting parties into it. It doesn't matter who is president, our wants and needs are all alike and any president will succumb to US together.
Sheldon August 11, 2012 at 07:14 pm
Have to say if you guys are still on the Bush stole the election campaign all I can say is welcome to 2012. You know, the year where Barrack Obama is President.
Sheldon August 11, 2012 at 07:16 pm
I would like to know more about Barry Soetoro, wouldn't you?
Sheldon August 11, 2012 at 07:30 pm
I am confused. Bail out bank buddies without having them pay back? The big banks have paid back TARP with interest that has profited the government. AIG, GM and Allied Bank ( the old GM financing arm ) and Delco ( the GM auto parts co ) are the largest TARP deficits last time I checked. The last two were an Obama bail out. Maybe you agree with that bail out, I would not have been a fan of a GM bankruptcy. But at least credit the TARP deficits where they belong.

Hazel Wilkonson:Sane progressives? That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
John Gruber August 11, 2012 at 10:35 pm
exactly. these politicians have people arguing left and right (literally) while they go behind our backs and over our heads to serve their own self-interests and most don't even notice it, they're to convinced their side is right and everyone else wrong while the people they support are just as corrupt and money-oriented
John Gruber August 11, 2012 at 10:38 pm
another main reason nothing gets done in this country and why it's going downhill, people and politicians are more concerned and loyal to their party than their country

The Romney-Ryan Plan:
1. Tax poor & working people but not the rich; 2. Encourage wages in the U.S. to fall to third world levels; 3. Pass trade laws that make it easy for companies to send jobs overseas; 4. Pass laws that enable only insurance companies to control who gets health care (including seniors) and who doesn't; 5. Replace public education with out of pocket private schools and home schooling; 6. Refuse to invest in crumbling public infrastructure such as highways, bridges, and sewer systems; 7. Pass laws that weaken regulations and enable companies to pollute the environment; 8. Pass laws that enable gas and oil production and prices to be controlled by a few large companies; Make sure that there is no longer any research or work on alternative energy sources; Keep defense spending high to protect non domestic oil production; 9. Repress rights for women and minorities and repress voting participation; 10. Divide the American people on cultural issues (religion, sexual orientation, gun rights, etc); 11. Instill fear in the American public through manufactured crises and created "boogeymen". Then attack political opponents by claiming to be more "patriotic" and the better keeper of "American Values" than they. 12. Make it impossible for literally millions of ELIGIBLE voters to cast their ballots, which is flagrant vote tampering and corruption. Can YOU afford to support these guys? We can't. We're an average American working family.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 19, 2012 at 09:33 pm
LMAO@ PEOPLE PERSON.... you are a joke, who do you listen to MSNBC all day? you have no common sense, no education I bet, no job, and obviously no brain. You really need to take your ignorance elsewhere. Obama is a joke and everyone who actually thinks he's good and supports is a nutcase beyond belief!
Goin' Commando August 19, 2012 at 11:01 pm
Oh Mitty,Mitt, Mitt; my Mittkins, how I wuv you!
Oh, yes, save us, Republicans!!! Of course, there's really not any real Republicans left, once Olympia Snowe retires, since Dick Lugar isn't coming back, and since Chuck Hagel has been long gone. But, OMG, Mitty, Mitt and Paulie Rand, son of Ayn, are going to save us from logic and intelligent approaches.
Preliator August 19, 2012 at 11:12 pm
You know Frog Morton and Meadow Way posted the exact same thing...or should I say one person with multiple accounts has posted the exact same thing. Makes you wonder exactly how many of these loony lefties are out there or perhaps some has a multiple personality disorder, either way the lunatic left is starting to show some signs of strain.
Take a warm bath, listen to some soothing music and try to relax; just accept that Barack Obama is going down to defeat and move on with your lives.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 20, 2012 at 12:45 am
Joan you are 100% a democrat, very obvious. Being you are a democrat and pretty ignorant based on the stupid comments coming out of your mouth, you obviously have 0 clue about what Obama has done since he took office. I am 100% in favor of what the republicans have done, Obama is a downright socialist failure and nothing he says is worth 2 cents so block away.
I'm guessing based on your comments you have no clue how the economy works? I'm guessing you don't know the implications of the Dodd Frank Bill or Obamacare? Typical democrat, blame everyone but themselves.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 20, 2012 at 12:46 am
People is a brainwashed democrat. There is no point in explaining anything to democrats, most of them are so set in their ways and truly hopeless. When the USA looks like Greece in a few years, only then will they realize how horrible Obama is.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 20, 2012 at 12:51 am
@ Concerned, that was a fine explanation you gave there. I've never seen anyone say anything logical on this message forum before. Usually its just the blame game and silly remarks. I commend you for your 2 cents of useful information.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 20, 2012 at 12:56 am
Gramps? Are you even remotely serious, you appear to have 0 clue like many people who will be voting for Obama. If Obama has half a president the economy would have taken off 2 years ago. Do you know anything about simple economics? Recessions are good for the economy buddy, prolonged ones are not. You don't understand much Gramps. Obama has instituted anti-business policies that have companies not hiring b/c they are uncertain of what will happen. Obamacare will lead to increased layoffs, wages that won't increase, and lots of turmoil as its creators don't even understand half of the law itself. Obama wants everyone to be reliant on him and the government. That is what socialist is called, if that's what you like Gramps, you should relocate to Europe or Canada. Don't worry before long we will look like Greece and you will have 5 cents in pocket literally.
Democrats_Are_Lazy August 20, 2012 at 01:01 am
Unions are overpaid and bad for the economy, FIRE THEM ALL!
North Fork Bob August 20, 2012 at 01:33 am
Democrat you are a pompous fool. You think you're bright and it makes me laugh. The banks and major corporations are destroying the middle class and poor of this country. Every day they have more and we have less. They play divide and conquer and they fool you into going along with it.Obama and Congress are on the side of the elite. You can wave your Republican flag all you want but things aren't going to get any better. We have to get together as a people for fundamental change to occur.
Preliator August 20, 2012 at 02:22 am
Oh go stuff your Occupy nonsense, we don't need fundamental change we need jobs and we are not going to get them under a clown like Obama. With Romney some people will have a chance to support themselves and their family rather than live on the dole the rest of their lives.
Goin' Commando August 20, 2012 at 03:33 am
Aargh! Grumble, Grumble.
You're all (fill in your favorite insulting adjective) (select your noun, press 1 for Democrats, or 2 for Republicans). (Anger)...(more anger)...(foaming at the mouth)..."this country is going to hell in a hand basket and only (press 1 for Obama, or 2 for Romney) can save us." Some people here need some serious tranquilizers and classes in anger management. But even more people here need to stop watching Fox or MSNBC, and nobody should listen to loud-mouthed buffoons on the radio. All of us also need to study and incorporate critical thinking.
PHD_IN_ECONOMICS August 21, 2012 at 01:40 am
I agree mostly with Democrat, Bob please stop talking you are quite the Ignoramous, just like Gramps up above. You are clueless Bob, according to you banks and corporations are to blame for the problems of the nation? LMAO@ you!! Idiot!! You have 0 clue. Most people who vote for Obama (the socialist) are mindless and not very bright. Most of Obama's supporters are not well educated, are union workers, people who rely on gov't assistance, and people that are just brainwashed into blaming everyone but themselves. Bob you need to go open a few books and get educated on how the economy works b/c you have no clue at all.
PHD_IN_ECONOMICS August 21, 2012 at 01:44 am
Hey BOBBY, go read about this if have more than a 1st grade reading level which is doubtful by the way you conduct yourself. Home Owner Affordability Act, enacted under BILL CLINTON (a democrat) you fool!!!!! If you'd like you can meet me and I'll give you a lesson in Finance & Economics b/c you sure need one. Columbia graduate here BOBBY and I make more per year than your house is worth buddy. I'm sure you are flipping burgers or sitting on your couch collecting those Obama checks cause you're too lazy to get a job like a normal person would.

Firstly, Maude, it is not Sid "Viscious" it is Sid "Viscuous" - look it up.Read More Secondly, all you tinfoil-hat wearing science deniers need to wake the heck up: "STOCKHOLM -- The World Bank says it will increasingly view its efforts to help developing countries fight poverty through a "climate lens." In a report released Wednesday, the international lending institution warned that heat waves, rising seas, more severe storms and other impacts of climate change will trap millions of people in poverty." As a result, the Washington-based bank said it is stepping up support for efforts to curb climate change and to help the world adapt to it. "Urgent action is needed to not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also to help countries prepare for a world of dramatic climate change and weather extremes," World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said in a statement." "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
