Town Budget Clears Hurdle With Ease; Hearing Set

The public is invited to weigh in Oct. 23 on Southampton Town's proposed 2013 budget.

Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst's proposed town budget for 2013 was converted from tentative to preliminary on Thursday morning in a 4-0 vote.

Now that the budget is preliminary, public input can begin. The first public hearing date has been set for Oct. 23 during the 6 p.m. Town Board meeting at Town Hall. Throne-Holst said constituents can also contact the offices of any Town Board members.

The proposed 2013 town budget includes no layoffs or service cuts, and no increase in the tax levy Total proposed spending is $82 million.

The budget can be downloaded at the town website or viewed at the town clerk's office.
