Southampton Muster A Throwback To Years Gone By

Annual apparatus show and muster will be held in Southampton Village on Saturday.

The Southampton Fire Department Antique Fire Apparatus Show & Muster on Saturday will showcase the skills and efficiency of fire departments all over Long Island.

The annual event starts off with a parade of antique firetrucks at Railroad Plaza at 10 a.m., goes down North Main Street, Main Street, and Jobs Lane, ending at Pond Lane. The trucks will be on display near Lake Agawam for the rest of the day.

Firefighters will compete in various activities throughout the rest of the day, such as the "Bucket Brigade," "Midnight Alarm," and even whaleboat races to prove their quick abilities, athleticism, and firefighting skills.

"It is a throw back to years ago," said Southampton Fire Department Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner.

The muster, held along the west side of Agawam Park, goes until about 3:30 p.m.

Food, refreshments and t-shirts will be sold, and there will also be raffles.

The day end's with a trophy presentation, Brenner said.
