Question of the Day: Do You Support Same-Sex Marriage?

A state vote is expected before the end of the week.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that the New York State Senate is just one Republican vote away from legalizing same sex marriage. The measure is expected to come to the floor this week.

State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., I-Sag Harbor, has voted to legalize same-sex marriage in the past, even when he was a member of the Republican Party.

A spokesman for state Sen. Kenneth P. LaValle, R-Port Jefferson, said the senator believes marriage is between a man and a woman but he supports civil unions and equal rights for gays.

Are you in favor of New York State recognizing same sex marriage? What about civil unions?
