Southampton Mariners are Long Island champions.
Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman, of Montauk, honored the Southampton Mariners field hockey team and coach Kim Hannigan on March 5 with a proclamation for their earning the title of Class C Long Island champions for the first time since 2003. The Lady Mariners triumphed over Friends Academy in a 2-1 victory, according to Schneiderman's office.
