More State Aid Delivered for Schools, Libraries

Sen. LaValle says local school and library districts will receive additional tax relief from the state, and the Children's Museum of the East End will receive aid as well.

State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle, R-Port Jefferson, announced Tuesday that Southampton area libraries, schools and a museum have been awarded additional state aid — on top of the typical state aid formula.

LaValle said the cash will provide tax rate stabilization and relief for taxpayers. The aid to local libraries is a modest $2,200 each, but the Tuckahoe School District, where voters recently , will receive $104,000. Southampton School District was awarded $30,000, and the Children's Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton got $10,000.
