Mecox Sailing School Approved; Lawsuit Pending

Town supervisor calls litigation to overturn wetlands permit "a frivolous lawsuit," The Sag Harbor Express reports.

The Southampton Town Board unanimously approved the Mecox Sailing Association's plan for a sailing club at the end of Bay Lane in Water Mill on Tuesday, but neighbors who oppose the club are , The Sag Harbor Express reports.

Patch in September that Attorney Gram Weber filed the lawsuit on behalf of neighborhood group the Mecox Bay Civic Association in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Sept. 7, to stop the clearing of 1,800 square feet, and received a temporary restraining order the same day.

The Express reports that Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst said the sailing school is "a very low-key plan to teach kids from all walks of life to sail," and the opponents are a private group with lots of money behind them.
