Marc Leder Told 'No More Parties'

Fourth of July noise complaint was last straw for Southampton Town.

After working out a deal to green light a Fourth of July party that he didn't get a special event permit for, Sun Capital co-CEO Marc Leder violated noise ordinances and will no longer be allowed to have parties at his Water Mill summer rental, according to Newsday.

Newsday reports that Leder has been having raucous parties each weekend, and a few days before Independence Day code enforcement officers spotted a tent being erected at the Bay Lane property.

According to the report, Southampton Town Supervisor said Leder struck an accord with the town in which he would be allowed to proceed with the party if he donated $10,000 to Southampton Youth Services and put $50,000 in escrow in case of damages. But then the party drew a noise complaint as loud music continued past 11:30 p.m., Newsday wrote.

Ed Burke Jr., who is Leder's attorney in the matter, told Patch Tuesday he has no comment.

Leder's parties have been infamous for some time. After one particular party at a Bridgehampton estate he rented summer 2011, the New York Post reported it was like the Playboy Mansion meets the East End.

But the following January he refuted the Post's story while talking to The New York Times. “I think the portrayal of me as having wild and crazy parties is absolutely incorrect,” Leder told The Times. “I spend a small percentage throwing some parties, attending some parties. I like music. I like to dance. But rather than reporting on how I spend 340 days and nights of my year, the media likes to report on the other 25.”

The controversial video of 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney's "47 percent" remarks was shot at Leder's Boca Raton home.
