Conservatives to Protest Progressives Picketing Romney

As liberal and progressive groups protest outside a Mitt Romney fundraiser Sunday, conservatives will provide a counterbalance.

Left-wing groups planning to descend on Southampton Village to a $50,000-per-guest will not be the only ones marching up and down Meadow Lane on Sunday.

Conservatives now plan to hold a counter-protest during the demonstration by the Long Island Progressive Coalition, MoveOn.org and several like-minded organizations.

Liberal and progressive groups say they will be there outside billionaire industrialist David Koch's oceanfront estate to protest "money in politics."  But conservatives say they will march down Meadow Lane to the front to Koch's home to welcome the GOP presidential contender with a cheer.

The event at the Koch estate is one of three fundraisers Romney has planned in the Hamptons Sunday, though this particular fundraiser is targeted because of Koch's advocacy, and large donations, for conservative causes.

The liberal groups plan to convene in the parking lot at 3 p.m. then march west down Meadow Lane with banners to the front of Koch's estate to "nonviolently disrupt" the fundraiser. Meanwhile, starting at 3:30 p.m., conservatives, including members of the East End Tea Party — who have been invited to join, though they are not they are not organizers of the counter-protest  — will convene at the . They will then march east with American flags and placards, meeting their liberal counterparts at the Koch estate.

Overhead, there is slated to be a plane hired by MoveOn.org to pull a banner that reads "Romney has a Koch problem.”
