The Sag Harbor Village Board voted Tuesday to withdraw from consideration a proposed law that would have banned residents from planting bamboo, a non-native, invasive plant that could spread to neighbor's lawns, reports.
The village mayor and trustees were unanimous, opting to encourage residents not to plant invasive species, rather than making the act illegal, according to the report. The legislation arose after Madison Street resident Pat Field told the board in September that her neighbor's bamboo was invading her property, and, try as she might, she could not stop it, The Express reports.
