Village Police Log: Repeat Drunk Driver Charged With DWI

Also reported by Southampton Village police: Teen who broke out department store window last year charged with felony, cops say.

Southampton Village police arrest reports for April 9 through 15:

Driving While Intoxicated


• Anthony T. Massarotti, 30, of Southampton, was arrested April 9 at 12:36 a.m. and charged with felony DWI.  Police said they stopped Massarotti  for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions while he was driving a 1998 Audi eastbound on County Road 39. Massarotti has been convicted of DWI on three occasions, according to police, elevating the DWI charge to a felony. He was held for morning arraignment, police said.

• David G. Morales-Chavarria, 25, of Riverhead, was arrested April 13 at 3:47 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors.  According to police, they stopped Morales-Chavarria for driving the wrong way on Cameron Street, a one-way street, in a 1992 Toyota Camry. Police said they confiscated a fraudulent Social Security card and Morales-Chavarria was held for arraignment.

• George P. Lindsay, 65, of Scarsdale, was arrested April 13 at 10:56 p.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Lindsay for failing to maintain his lane of traffic while driving a 1987 Mercedes-Benz northbound on North Sea Road.

 • Joshua J. Roselle, 22, of Blue Point, was arrested  April 15 at 11:46 p.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Roselle  for a lighting violation while driving a 2002 Hyundai Sonata on County Road 39.

Mischief


• Yotehele Eleazer, 19, of Southampton, was arrested April 10 at 1:45 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony.  Police said that on or about Sept. 16, 2012,  Eleazer broke the storefront window of Hildreths’ Department Store on Main Street.

Drugs


• Benjamin G. Smith, 27, of Shelter Island, was arrested April 11 at 2:11 p.m. and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, and  unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.  Police said that during a traffic stop, they found three different controlled substances, plus marijuana and a glass pipe.  Smith was processed and released after posting $200 bail.

Resisting Arrest


• Terence J. Mahoney, 51, of Bridgehampton, was arrested April 13 at 8:07 p.m. and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a violation; and a village code violation of possessing an open alcoholic beverage in public.  Police said they were called to a Main Street restaurant for an unruly patron and found that Mahoney had entered 75 Main with a 24-ounce can of beer and caused a disturbance when he was asked to leave.  According to police, when officers responded Mahoney became verbally abusive and combative while he was being placed under arrest. Police said they searched Mahoney and found two knives on him, including a buck knife.
