A 17-year-old Hampton Bays boy was arrested July 1 at 12:39 a.m. for driving while ability impaired by drugs — a misdemeanor elevated to a felony under Leandra's Law, because he drove in an intoxicated condition with a 15-year-old passenger, police said. His vehicle was impounded and he was processed and held for morning arraignment, according to police. He was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police did not release the teen's name.
