Village Police Log: Kids in Car During Road Rage Incident

Also among the week's arrests in Southampton Village, an East Quogue man charged with heroin possession.

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Assault, Endangering Children

An East Patchogue man was arrested Sept. 9 after punching and breaking a car window during a road rage incident, while children were in the vehicle, according to police.

Southampton Village police said 46-year-old John K. Ward was charged with assault in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, all misdemeanors.

Before 2 p.m., Ward and a driver were fighting on North Sea Road when Ward broke the driver's window, police said. The driver's wife and two young children were inside the vehicle as well, according to police.

During the fight, the driver was cut and bruised and was later taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment.

Heroin, Needle Possession

• James M. Aigotti, 22, of East Quogue, was arrested Sept. 7 at 12:03 p.m. after a traffic stop, police said. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, both misdemeanors, after heroin and hypodermic needles were found inside the vehicle, police said. He was processed, arraigned and transferred to the Suffolk County jail after failing to post $750 bail, according to police.

Driving While Intoxicated

• Deborah L. Foley, 54, of Bridgeport, Conn., was stopped for a traffic violation Sept. 5 at 9:11 p.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, according to police.

• Shaun W. Diaz, 21, of Water Mill, was stopped for multiple traffic violations and was subsequently charged with DWI on Sept. 7 at 1:43 a.m., police said.

Trespassing

• Scott P. Hilton, 30, of Southampton, was arrested Sept. 8 at 4:51 a.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the second degree, a misdemeanor, after police officers responded to a Pelletreau Street residence for a report that an unknown person had entered unlawfully. After a brief search of the area, Hilton was located, identified by a witness and placed under arrest, police said. He was released after arraignment and posting $250 bail.
