Village Police Log: Man Kicked Out Police Car Window After DWI Arrest

Also among recent arrests in Southampton Village, a Bridgehampton woman charged with forging Adderall prescriptions and a Shirley woman charged with illegally possessing metal knuckles with an attached knife.

Southampton Village arrest reports for July 3 to July 23:

DWI, Kicking Out Police Car Window

• Bradden N. Smith, 29, of Southampton, was arrested July 5 at 1:27 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, a violation. Police said they received a call of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 39 and North Sea Road and when they arrived Smith had already left the scene.  Upon further investigation, police found that a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, owned and operated by Smith, had rear-ended a 2006 Isuzu box truck owned by Rapid Recovery, according to police. After being taken into custody, Smith kicked out the rear window of the police cruiser, police said. His vehicle was impounded and he was held for morning arraignment, where he posted $4,500 bail.

Felony Driving While Intoxicated

• , 27, of East Hills, was arrested July 6 at 4:35 a.m. and charged with felony DWI, an elevated charge because he has a previous DWI conviction in 2011, police said. According to police, they attempted to stop Soukup while for speeding and running a stop sign in a 2012 Ford Edge while traveling westbound on White Street. As an officer attempted to stop Soukup, he accelerated traveling on the wrong side of roadway before pulling into a driveway on White Street, police said. As officers went to place him under arrest, he pulled away and fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit until officers were able to take him into custody, according to police. He was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony, resisting arrest, circumvention of an interlock device, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said Soukup refused to take a breath test and his vehicle was seized under the Suffolk County Vehicle Seizure Law.

• Joel A. Vasquez, 32, of Hampton Bays, was arrested July 3 at 4:50 p.m. and charged with felony DWI. Police said Vasquez was previously convicted of DWI in 2009.  Police said they stopped Vasquez for speeding in a 2004 Dodge southbound on Tuckahoe Lane. Police said they found several open containers of beer in the vehicle.  The vehicle was impounded and he was held for morning arraignment, according to police.

Driving While Intoxicated

• William C.A. Grant, 19, of New York City, was arrested July 7 at 12:46 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Grant for running a red light while driving a 2007 Jeep southbound on North Sea Road.  In addition, he was operating his vehicle without any headlights and on the wrong side of roadway, police said. As an officer attempted to stop Grant, he accelerated at a high rate of speed before stopping, according to police. When the officer went to approach Grant’s vehicle, he drove off before coming to a stop a short distance later, police added. He was processed and held for morning arraignment.

• Arianna M. Pappas, 22, of Brookville, was arrested July 7 at 2:12 a.m. and charged with DWI and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors.  Police said they stopped Pappas for running a stop sign and speeding in a 2011 Audi while driving southbound on Elm Street. Upon further investigation, she was taken into custody and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Alex L. Steinhardt, 23, of New York City, was arrested July 7 at 2:26 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Steinhardt for failing to maintain her lane of travel while driving a 2008 Lexus eastbound on County Road.

• Serge L. Illel, 50, of Sag Harbor, was arrested July 8 at 12:50 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Illel for driving a 1997 BMW without any headlights westbound on Bowden Square. Upon further investigation, he was taken into custody and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Christopher J. Barczynski Jr., 45, of New York City, was arrested July 14 at 3:22 a.m. and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said they stopped Barcynski for failing to maintain his lane of travel white driving a 2007 Honda westbound on County Road 39. Upon further investigation, he was arrested, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Adrian M. Devenyi, 48, of New York City, was arrested July 15 at 2:04 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Devenyi for failing to maintain his lane of travel while driving a 2012 Audi A5 westbound on Jobs Lane. Upon further investigation, he was arrested, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Robert Bohmer, 32, of Greenwich, Conn., was arrested July 15 at 2:13 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Bohmer for a vehicle and traffic violation while driving a 2003 Hyundai northbound on North Main Street.  Upon further investigation, he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Sarah Lee Myers, 32, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., was arrested July 15 at 3:47 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Myers for running a red light while driving a 2006 BMW northbound on North Sea Road. Upon further investigation, she was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

• Jason A. Torres, 26, of Islip Terrace, was arrested July 15 at 4:07 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said they stopped Torres for failing to maintain his lane while driving a 2007 Mazda northbound on North Sea Road.

• Frank S. Nebleft, 29, of North Palm Beach, Fla., was arrested July 22 at 1:40 a.m. and charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said they stopped Nebleft for speeding in a 2011 BMW eastbound on Hill.  Upon further investigation, he was arrested, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument

• Allison B. Haring, 36, of Bridgehampton, was arrested July 13 at 9:30 a.m. and charged with 10 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony. Police said Haring possessed stolen and forged prescriptions and presented them to multiple pharmacies for the drug Adderall. She was processed and remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

• Jack Marley Doherty, 19, of Water Mill, was arrested July 5 at 1:09 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, a misdemeanor. Doherty was found to be in possession of two fake drivers’ licenses, one out of Florida and the other Ohio, police said.

• Meghan M. Manley, 18, of Southampton, was arrested July 10 at 11:12 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

Criminal Possession of a Weapon

• Alexis R. Haag, 20, of Shirley, was arrested July 6 at 6:21 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Haag was found with metal knuckles with a fixed blade. She was processed and released on $200 bail. 

Bail Jumping

• Juan Carlos Ayala, age 34, of East Hampton, was arrested July 22 at 11:40 p.m. on an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear, police said. In addition, he was charged with bail jumping in the third degree, a misdemeanor.
