Village Police Log: Man Forced Cop Car Off the Road

DWI
• Ronald Holmes, 71, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Jan. 14 at 11:26 p.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Holmes for failing to maintain his lane of travel after forcing an oncoming patrol car off the roadway while he was driving a 2000 Volvo eastbound on Wickapogue Road. Upon further investigation, he was arrested, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

Circumventing an Interlock Device
• Victor A. Flores-Baires, 27, of Southampton, was arrested Jan. 10 at 11:39 a.m. and charged with circumventing an interlock device and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, both misdemeanors. Interlock devices are court-ordered to be installed in cars to prevent them from starting when the driver has alcohol on his breath. His vehicle was impounded and he was released after posting $250 bail, police said.
