Town Police Log: Woman Drives Toward Cop Car, Arrested for DWI

Also this week, drug and larceny arrests.

Arrests recently reported east of the Shinnecock Canal:

Driving While Intoxicated

• Emma K. Macwhinnie, 24, of Water Mill, was arrested Aug. 10 at 1:36 a.m. in Southampton at the intersection of Noyac Road and Dogwood Lane and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Macwhinnie was driving into oncoming traffic, toward a cop car. She was pulled over and found to have alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and bloodshot glassy eyes, according to the arrest report. She was unable to stand without assistance and on a pre-screening breath test she registered a blood alcohol content of nearly four times the legal limit, the arrest report stated. She was additionally cited for multiple traffic infractions, the report stated.

Drug Possession

• A 21-year-old South Huntington woman was arrested Aug. 7 at 9:38 p.m. in Noyac and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said the woman was parked at Circle Beach when she was found with oxycodone and Adderall, plus some marijuana.

Petty Larceny

• A 29-year-old East Hampton woman was arrested at King Kullen in Bridgehampton Aug. 10 after she left the store without paying for steaks and candles in her bag, according to police. The arrest report stated that the woman was seen and stopped by store security. The incident was at 4:18 p.m. and she was arrested and charged with petty larceny at 5:22 p.m., according to the report.
