Town Police Log: Peddling Without a License, Outstanding Warrant and Unlicensed Driving

Man caught driving without a valid license has 12 previous suspensions, police say.

Aggravated Unlicensed Driving

On Sunday at 12:43 a.m. police arrested Edwin Olivia-Mejia, 31, of Sag Harbor for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Police say Olivia-Mejia was stopped on County Road 39 at the North Sea Road intersection and was found to have a total of 12 suspensions on his license, spanning four dates.

Peddling Without a License

Mariano Hernandez, 46, of Hampton Bays was arrested on Dec. 21 on Blank Lane in Water Mill for peddling without a license. He was selling hot food and beverages from a 2005 Chevrolet catering truck registered to On The Go Catering of Brentwood, police said.

Warrants

Rick McFarland, 22, of Center Moriches was arrested Sunday at 5:03 p.m. in Bridgehampton. According to police, he was initially arrested by East Hampton Police, but transferred to Southampton Town Police custody for a bench warrant that was issued by Southampton Town Justice Court for failure to appear.  McFarland had a warrant for a ticket he received for criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, on July 10, 2010. On that date, he was caught smoking marijuana in public at the Long Island Rail Road station in Hampton Bays, according to police.

Charges are merely accusations. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A name will only be removed if the accused has been acquitted and can provide a certificate of disposition. Contact the editor to make such a request.
