Town Police Log: Noyac Woman Charged with Arson

DWI, grand larceny and resisting arrest also in this week's arrest reports.

arrest reports for east of the Shinnecock Canal, Feb. 28 through March 6:

Arson

Mary P. Veitus, 28, of Noyac was arrested Wednesday and charged with arson in the fourth degree, a felony, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. Police said she turned herself in for a Feb. 20 incident at a Canoe Place Road residence in Hampton Bays. According to police, it was a domestic incident and department policy is to not release details about such cases.

Grand Larceny

Jennifer A. Truskoski, 39, of Riverhead was arrested Tuesday in Hampton Bays and charged with grand larceny in the second degree, a felony. Police said Truskoski was arrested following a joint investigation with the Suffolk County district attorney’s office into a Nov. 9 incident in North Sea.

Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct

Evelyn Cabral, 29, of Southampton was arrested at 11:48 p.m. Sunday outside the Enclave Inn on Longview Road in Southampton and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police said Cabral was drunk and arguing with another person. She yelled and screamed multiple times, waking guests at the complex after numerous attempts to quiet her down, according to police. Upon being arrested she refused to put her hands behind her back and did attempt to get away, police said.

DWI

Peter Joseph Ditalia, 33, of Southampton was arrested Thursday at around 12:45 a.m. and charged with DWI. He was additionally charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and moving from lane unsafely. Police said Ditalia performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests and his vehicle was impounded after he was pulled over on Whites Lane and Magee Street in Tuckahoe.

Charges are merely accusations. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A name will only be removed if the accused has been acquitted and can provide a certificate of disposition. Contact the editor to make such a request.
