Town Police Log: Marijuana, DWI and Cocaine Arrests

Police say 38-year-old Southampton woman was dealing PCP and cocaine.

Drug Possession

Tania Copenhaver, 38, of Southampton was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. According to police, Copenhaver was arrested after a police investigation that “included weeks of surveillance where Copenhaver was observed dealing PCP and cocaine.” Police nabbed her after pulling her over in Hampton Bays for allegedly violating vehicle and traffic law. She was in possession of 24 grams of cocaine, police said.

Humberto Barrantes, 22, of Bridgehampton was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal possession of a control substance in the third degree, criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth degree and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, all misdemeanors. According to police, Barrantes was driving westbound on Montauk Highway near Flying Point Road in Southampton when police noticed his car had no tail or plate lamps. After stopping the Barrantes, police noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.  Police say after searching the car they found a small white bag in his pocket that contained marijuana and larger bags of the drug in his backpack, as well as a Ziplock bag containing cocaine.

Southampton police arrested Carley Stevenot, 19, of Medford on Monday near Hills Station Road in Southampton on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. She was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and insufficient lights, a traffic violation.  According to police, Stevenot was pulled over for a traffic infraction near County Road 39 and Hills Station Road. Upon stopping Stevenot, police smelled marijuana coming from inside his car. After a search, an officer found a small amount of the drug in a grinder inside the car, police said. Police also found two Hydrocodone pills, which Stevenot did not have a prescription for, according to authorities.

Violating License Agreement

Gerson Mancilla, 34, of East Hampton was arrested Friday for and cited for violating his conditional license. Police say Mancilla did not have an interlock devise attached to his car as part of court agreement for a previous DWI charge. Mancilla was pulled over on Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton when police noticed him speeding, according to authorities. Upon stopping Mancilla, police found that he did not have the required interlock devise on his car, the police report said. Mancilla was also issued a speeding ticket.

Robbery

Sandra Zende-Rojas, 33, of East Hampton, was arrested on Thursday at Bridgehampton Commons and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and robbery, a felony. According to police, Zende-Rojas was arrested after she was observed by security “placing several items of clothing in a pocketbook.”  Police say she struggled with security when they attempted to stop her.
