Town Police Log: Many Charged with DWI over Holiday Weekend

Editor's Note: The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

DWI

Neftali Castillo, 27, of Riverhead was arrested Friday at 11:21 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Water Mill and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police responded to a call from gas station attendants saying that Castillo was drunk and about to leave the station. Police arrived and arrested Castillo, and also found that he had also stolen $10 in quarters from a gas station employee’s car, according to the arrest report.

Maxwell Weiss, 22, of Southampton was arrested Tuesday at 4:16 a.m. on the corner of Montauk Highway and Deerfield Road in Water Mill and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Weiss was stopped for speeding.

Kiran Daggumati, 28, of Hackensack, New Jersey was arrested Monday at 1:33 a.m. at the corner of County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road in Southampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Daggumati was stopped for driving out of lane.

Kurt Blom, 25, of Sag Harbor was arrested Saturday at 2:35 a.m. on the corner of Fanning and Ponquogue avenues in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police stopped Blom for not using his blinker to make a right hand turn, according to the arrest report.

, 35, of Bridgehampton was arrested June 27 at 9:36 p.m. at the corner of Sagaponack Main Street and Montauk Highway in Sagaponack and charged with aggravated DWI, a felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Ross was stopped for speeding when police found that he was driving intoxicated with a seven-year-old sitting in the front seat without a seatbelt, police said.

Lois Oliveria, 66, of Southampton was arrested Tuesday at 9:35 p.m. on the corner of Noyac Road and Majors Path in North Sea and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Oliveria was stopped for driving out of lane, police said.

Charles Burrows, 29, of Southampton was arrested Sunday at 3:04 a.m. on the corner of Canoe Place Road and Fanning Avenue in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Burrows was stopped for driving out of lane, police said.

Frank Thompson, 56, of Sag Harbor was arrested Saturday at 2:17 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they responded to a call about an intoxicated disorderly man when they found Thompson in his car with his seat belt on and keys in the ignition. He was charged with aggravated DWI because he had an highly elevated blood alcohol content, police said.

Anton Shpigel, 33, of Staten Island was arrested Sunday at 4 a.m. on the corner of Noyac Road and English Garden Lane in Noyac and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Shpigel was stopped for speeding, police said.

Petty Larceny

Wendy Mealy, 48, of Southampton was arrested Thursday at 6:10 p.m. at  on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Police said the loss prevention manager at Kmart found that Mealy took $353.57 in merchandise from the store since October. Mealy took clothing, cigarettes, soda, lotion and cosmetics, police said.

Incident Report - Criminal Mischief

An employee of Southampton Town Parks and Recreation Department told Southampton Town Police on June 30 that at some point before June 20 someone pried the lock off of the and entered the structure. No items were taken, the employee said.
