Town Police Log: Mans Turns Himself in After Fleeing Accident

Police say a 25-year-old Southampton man fled the scene of an accident and turned himself in to police hours later.

Patricia Trabona, 43, of Southampton was arrested on March 28 and charged with aggravated DWI, DWI and refusal to submit to a breath test. Police said Trabona was pulled over on Hilltop Lane in Southampton.

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

On March 19, police arrested Jean Giarratano, 32, of Southampton and charged her with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Giarratono was pulled over on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays for a cracked windshield and for tailgating. An officer found a strong odor of marijuana coming from her car and Giarratano admitted to using marijuana, according to police, who said hash was found in the car.

Fleeing the Scene of an Accident

On March 31, Michael Johnson, 25, of Southampton was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident where there was an injury, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, and improper/unsafe turn without a signal. Police said Johnson struck another car on Hill Station Road in Shinnecock Hills then fled on foot.  Johnson turned himself in four hours after the accident, according to police.
