Town Police Log: Man Turns Himself in for Stealing from Suffolk Bus Fare Boxes

Thefts occurred over three months, police say.

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

arrest report for March 22 through March 27 for the eastern half of town:

Arturo Ramirez, 53, of Southampton turned himself in at town police headquarters in Hampton Bays on Thursday at around 3:27 p.m. on a charge of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony. Police said he stole more than $1,000 from the fare boxes of Suffolk County Transit buses. This occurred over a three-month period, from June to September 2010, according to police. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
