Town Police Log: Drunk Driver Caused CR39 Accident Friday, Cops Say

A stretch of County Road 39 was closed Friday night after driver struck utility poll.

Arrests by the Southampton Town police between Sept. 10 and 16:

Driving While Intoxicated

• Robert Love, 46, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, Sept. 14 on County Road 39 in Southampton at 7:38 p.m. Police said Love was involved in a motor vehicle accident during which his car struck a telephone pole. According to police, the crash shut down the road between N. Magee Rd and Tuckahoe Lane shortly after 7 p.m.

• Edison Perez, 26, of East Hampton, was arrested in Sagaponack on Sept. 15 at 4:08 a.m. on a charge of DWI, a misdemeanor. Perez was additionally charged with speeding and unlicensed operation of a vehicle, both traffic infractions. Police reported that Perez was stopped on Sagg Road.

Obstructing Governmental Administration

• Christopher Griffin, 43, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, an A misdemeanor, at police headquarters in Hampton Bays on September 5. Police say Griffin was involved in a reportable traffic accident in Noyac in early August but left the scene.

Robbery

• Efrain Alvarez, 34, of San Antonio, Texas, was charged with second-degree robbery, a class C felony, Sept. 11 at Southampton Town police headquarters in Hampton Bays. Police said the robbery happened at 801 County Road 39 in Southampton early that day where Alvarez chased another man on the street, struck him and took $1,540 from the man's pocket. The victim received multiple injuries to his face and head as a result of the attack.
