Town Police Log: Caught Going 80 in a 35, Drunk

Also among this week's arrests, Bridgehampton man charged with criminal trespass and Southampton man arrested on warrant for falsely reporting an incident.

Southampton Town police arrest reports from east of the Shinnecock Canal for the week of June 4 through June 10:

Driving While Intoxicated

• Benjamin Soleimani, 69, of Manhattan, was arrested June 9 at 10:36 p.m. in Bridgehampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as traffic infractions. Police said Soleimani was tailgating on Ocean Road, passing in a no passing zone and driving 80 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. Police said Soleimani had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. He also performed poorly on sobriety tests according to police and was arrested and transferred to police headquarters in Hamptons Bays for processing.

• Shannon O’Malley, 19, of Sag Harbor, was arrested June 9 at 1:10 a.m. in Water Mill and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said O’Malley was swerving in her lane while driving near the Scuttle Hole Road and Montauk Highway intersection. She was held overnight for a morning arraignment.

Trespassing

• Raymond J. O’Brien, 32, of Bridgehampton, was arrested June 10 at 10:24 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the second degree, a class-A misdemeanor. Police said O’Brien was arrested at his home following in investigation into an incident in Bridgehampton the day before.

Falsely Reporting an Incident

• Jonathan D. Deleyer-Strumph, 20, of Southampton, was arrested June 4 at 9:02 p.m. on an active warrant for falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, a class-A misdemeanor. Police said Deleyer-Strumph was wanted by the SUNY Plattsburgh Police Department. He was processed and held for extradition.
