Driving While Intoxicated
• Darwin Tamay, 33, of Southampton, was arrested April 10 at the intersection of Majors Path and Mary's Lane in North Sea at 8:52 p.m. He was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, after his car struck a mailbox at a property on Straight Path and he was subsequently confronted by the homeowner, police said. According to the arrest report, when officers responded to the scene they observed that Tamay showed signs of intoxication. He was additionally charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a violation.
• Jaime Garcia, 28, of Southampton, was arrested April 12 at 12:31 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, on North Sea-Mecox Road in Southampton. Police said they responded to complaints from other motorists in the area who had called in to report that Garcia was seen driving erratically. After performing field sobriety tests, the man was taken into custody. He was additionally charged with failing to keep right and unsafely moving from a lane, both traffic violations.
• Kare Slowey-Nilsen, 22, of Sag Harbor, was charged with DWI in North Haven April 10. Police said they stopped Slowey-Nilsen on Short Beach Road at 2:16 a.m. and arrested him after performing field sobriety tests. The driver was additionally charged with three moving traffic violations.
