Hotel Reports 8 More TVs Stolen

After three televisions stolen late last month, Atlantic Hotel reports eight more thefts.

Following reports of between Oct. 24 and Oct. 25, employees at the Route 27 hotel said another eight were recently stolen.

Police reports stated that the most recent incident came between 4:00 p.m. Nov. 3 and 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 4.

"We feel violated," said Dija Berdynaj, a front desk associate at the hotel. While the business has been operating without cameras, she said the owners are pricing cameras now.

The cost of the stolen televisions - 32-inch Samsung flat-screens purchased last year - is estimated to be between $3,000 and $3,500.

According to Sgt. Lisa Costa of the Southampton Police Department, detectives "can't say if [the suspect] could be from inside or outside" the company.

Berdynaj said she believes the thief could be someone previously employed by the hotel, who was released after the summer season. She said there are no signs of forced entry, and the individual could still have keys to the deadbolts.

"I've been working here 14 years. God knows how many people have keys," she said. However she added that in her time at the hotel, no incidents like this have ever occurred.

Owners are currently in the process of changing the locks, she added.
