Town Police Log: Repeat Drunk Driver Charged with Felony After Crash

DWI

• Carmine Cornacchio, 52, of North Sea, was arrested April 1 at 12:14 a.m. and charged with DWI, a class-E felony due to a previous drunk driving conviction, police said. Cops reported that Cornacchio attempted to flee the scene of a solo accident in which he drove his car off the roadway at the intersection of Ruggs Path and Noyac Road, causing property damage in the residential area. Cornacchio, soon after, was apprehended on foot near the intersection of Old Sag Harbor Road and Brick Kiln Road. In addition to a felony count of DWI, Cornacchio was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, an infraction.

• Paul Sanchez-Sanchez, 36, of Southampton, was arrested March 27 at 9:51 p.m. at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Flanders Road in Hampton Bays. He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, a misdemeanor, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor. Cops said Sanchez-Sanchez showed signs of inebriation during sobriety tests.
