Three Men Arrested in North Sea Drug Raid Continue to Be Held Without Bail

Fourth man whose top charge was a misdemeanor was granted bail.

Three men who were charged with felonies were ordered remanded without bail to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside at their arraignment Wednesday. They were in court again Monday for conferences and were sent back to jail without bail, court officials said.

The fourth man arrested during the raid, Karron D. Whidbee, 30, of Pioneer Lane in Southampton was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. He was granted bail of $500 cash or $1,000 bond and is due back in court Feb. 15. Police said Whidbee was on probation at the time of the raid.

Kwame A. Opoku, 29, who lived at the North Sea house, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fifth degree, both felonies, and in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. He was also charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a misdemeanor. He is due back in court Tuesday.

Bernard T. Cooks, 29, of Narrow Lane in Bridgehampton was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degrees, both felonies, and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a misdemeanor. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Nathaniel L. Cooper, 31, of Evergreen Avenue in East Moriches was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fifth degrees, both felonies.

Police said Opoku and Cooks were in violation of state parole. They are due back in town court Tuesday. Cooper is due Wednesday.

A police press release on the day of the raid listed all four of the men as residents of the North Sea house; however, their arrest reports indicated that only Opoku gave the house as his home address.
