Southampton Woman Fatally Strikes Man in Holbrook Crash

No charges filed in accident.

A 53-year-old Southampton woman driving on Nicolls Road in Holbrook on Sunday night struck and killed a pedestrian, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said Melanie Beczak's 2010 Honda Accord was impounded for a safety check and the investigating is continuing.

The pedestrian, Edward Fulford, 22, of Massapequa, was transported by Holbrook Fire Department to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The accident occurred around 9 p.m. in the northbound lane, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
