Southampton Police: Trio Beat Man, Stole $1,500
One suspect arrested and held on immigration warrant.
A Texas man who police say was part of a trio that beat and robbed a victim in Southampton was arrested Tuesday.
said that at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday the victim, a 34-year-old Southampton man, stepped outside of Blue Collar Bar on County Road 39 to smoke a cigarette. That's when he was approached by three Hispanic men who chased him to the rear of the building next door, knocked him to the ground and beat him, according to police. One of the attackers stole $1,500 in cash from his pocket, cops added.
Though the victim sustained "substantial" bruising and lacerations, he refused medical attention, police said.

Detectives located one of the suspects on Tuesday, Efrain Alvarez, 34, of San Antonio, and arrested him at police headquarters in Hampton Bays at 8:46 p.m. Police charged him with second-degree robbery, a felony.
Police said Alvarez, who was temporarily living in Southampton for a construction job, also had an immigrant warrant out from the Department of Homeland Security. He was held overnight for morning arraignment at , where he was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside.
