Town Police Log: Several DWI Arrests

A man nearly drove off the road in Water Mill while drunk, police said, while one Manorville man reportedly blew more than 2.5 times the legal limit.

Assault

• A Southampton 16-year-old was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, on June 17 after police said he punched another person in the face.
Driving While Intoxicated

• Simon Swig, 22, of New York City, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday. According to a police report, Swig was spotted making an illegal u-turn on County Road 39, just west of Tuckahoe Road, in Southampton at around 3:50 a.m.

• A Southampton man was arrested on a charge of DWI after police said he nearly drove off Noyac Road in on June 17. According to police reports, 59-year-old Mark Hughes was arrested after police said they saw him drive onto the grass shoulder of the road around 10:30 p.m. He reportedly performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests and was arrested.

• Brad Lauren, 45, of New York City, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on June 17. According to police, Lauren was driving on Montauk Highway around 11:10 p.m.when he was pulled over, and later found to be intoxicated.

• Kevin Cajowski, 51, of Manorville, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Saturday. Police said he was seen honking his horn at stopped traffic on Sebonac Road in Southampton just before 6 p.m. According to police, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.21 percent, over 2.5 times the legal limit.

• Andrea Albaneze, 26, of East Northport, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Friday. Albaneze was stopped for failing to turn as required, police said, and she reportedly had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Police said she performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests, and had a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent.

• Juan Pirir, 51, of Noyac, was arrested on an aggravated DWI charge on Saturday. According to police, he was involved in an accident on Deerfield Road, near Middle Line Highway, in Noyac, in which the second vehicle had left the scene. While interviewing Pirir, police said there as an odor of alcohol on his breach and he later blew a 0.19 on a pre screen blood test.

Driving While Impaired by Drugs

• Nicole Sobol, 33, of Southampton, was arrested on Sunday on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Sobol was arrested while driving west on Montauk Highway, near Tuckahoe Road, in Southampton at around 12:30 a.m., when police said she was seen driving over the double yellow line. Police said marijuana was in plain sight upon approaching the vehicle, and she performed poorly on roadside field sobriety tests.

• An Eastport woman was accused of driving under the influence after police said they pulled her over and found multiple pills and marijuana in her possession. 

According to Southampton Town police, multiple calls about an erratic driver on County Road 39 were received around 8 p.m., and then police saw Heather Petrie, who is 40, driving outside her lane in Southampton. 

Police said she was slurring her speech and performed poorly on roadside field sobriety tests after she was pulled over. She reportedly had multiple pills and marijuana. 

Petrie was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors. She was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, as well as traffic infractions.

Circumventing an Interlock Device

• A Great Neck man was arrested on June 18 and charged with circumventing an interlock device, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, both misdemeanors. Police said the 56-year-old man was seen driving 50 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 114 on North Haven at around 12:50 a.m. 

Police said the man had no identification and misstated his name and the year he was born. Further investigation revealed that he had failed to submit a chemical test on June 11 of this year, and did not have an interlock device on his vehicle as required by a court.
