Town Police Log: Heroin Found in Man's Car

Drugs

Police charged Todd Levy, 43, of Mastic Beach, with criminal possession of a controlled substance on Feb. 9 after pulling him over for speeding. Police said Levy also had no plate lamp. Police say upon a search of his car, they found a quantity of heroin.

DWI

On Feb. 12, Alexander Seifert, 24, of New Jersey, was charged with DWI after police pulled him over on North Sea Road in Southampton. Police said Seifert was originally stopped for moving from a lane unsafely and for having insufficient lights. Upon investigation, police found that Seifert had been drinking.

Gloria Berkman, 58, of Smithtown, was charged with DWI on Feb. 11 after police pulled her over on Montauk Highway in Water Mill for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving on the shoulder of a roadway. Police said Berkman nearly slammed into a police car after being pulled over when she put her car in reverse. 

False Instrument

Paul Sharkey, 32, of Patchogue, was charged with filing a false instrument and signing a false written statement on Feb. 7. Police say Sharkey was charged after they learned he allegedly knowingly submitted a false commercial shell fishing license.
