Southampton F.D. Kicks Off Sandy Relief Drive Saturday
Supplies and monetary donations needed for superstorm victims.
To aid families who lost their homes and belongings during Superstorm Sandy, the Southampton Fire Department is putting on a collections drive for funds and goods starting Saturday.
Firefighters will be at the Windmill Lane firehouse in Southampton Village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
"The fire departments, families and Red Cross have told us that clothes are not the main concern right now, they have a surplus and are in dire need of other supplies," Capt. Chris Brenner said.

"We will be accepting anything you wish to donate," Brenner added. "If you would like to leave a monetary donation you may, we will be purchasing gift cards such as Home Depot, Lowe's, and American Express cards with any money we receive."
The drive will continue throughout the week, and times and dropoff locations will be announced.
"I would like to thank everyone in advance for their generosity," Brenner said. "I feel very lucky to have electricity, heat, and gas so I can go to work. Remember the people we are helping have not only lost these things, many of them have lost everything."
