Town Police Log: Man Drank Through the Night, Drove Moped Drunk

Drug Possession

• Eric Lehr, 34, of Smithtown, was arrested March 24 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. According to the arrest report, he was stopped for a traffic infraction on North Sea Road around 11:30 a.m. and was said to have a controlled substance on him.

Driving While Intoxicated

• A Sag Harbor man was charged with DWI after police said he was driving a moped around 12:30 p.m. after a night and morning of drinking beer. According to police reports, Edilberto Bautista, 51, told police he had “been drinking Budweisers since last night up until operation of [the] moped,” when he reportedly moved from his lane unsafely while driving it.

Petty Larceny

• A loss prevention manager at the Bridgehampton KMart reported that he saw a man take two Gilette razors out of their packages and place them in his pocket. He reportedly walked around for a bit longer before walking out of the store without paying for them. The man — whose identity police did not release, as he is eligible for youthful offender status — was arrested on a petty larceny charge, a misdemeanor.
