Shipment Of Kitchen Goods To Bridgehampton Home Disappears

Plus, a driver hits two vehicles and speeds off in Southampton.

The following crimes and suspicious incidents were reported by to Southampton Town Police for points east of the Shinnecock Canal.

Bridgehampton

  • A woman who purchased a home over the summer on Mid Ocean Drive called police on Sep. 6 to report that more than $5,400 worth of items she had shipped to the home were stolen. The woman reported that she had been shipping valuables to the house in expectation of moving in after Labor Day.  The victim shipped a coffee maker, a toaster, and pots and pans, but when she arrived, she noticed the shipment was missing.

Sag Harbor

  • Someone stole a Cevelo bicycle valued at $5,000 from a backyard in Sag Harbor on Sep. 1. According to police, a tenant renting a home on Cliff Drive reported that while they were out someone entered the backyard and took the bicycle, which was described as white with red striping and a white split seat.
  • A woman claims someone broke into her rented home on Noyac Road on Sep. 3 and stole a 24-pack of Budweiser from the refrigerator. The victim called police at around 1:15 p.m. She also reported that dresser drawers had been pulled open.

Southampton

  • An eyewitness in Southampton called 911 on Sep. 7 after watching a pickup truck hit two parked vehicles on Noyac Road and take off without stopping at around 7:45 p.m. The suspect was heading eastbound when the crash occurred. Police canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
