Sentence in Publick House Manslaughter Case Reduced by 5 Years

Anthony Oddone's sentence reduced to 17 years, plus five years of post-release probation.

According to a report on 27East, a 22-year sentence handed down a year and a half ago to a man who killed a bouncer was reduced by five years on Wednesday.

Anthony Oddone killed Hampton Bays resident Andrew Reister during an altercation at the Southampton brewpub in August of 2008, and was subsequently found guilty of first-degree manslaughter.

The report states that a four-judge panel at the State Appellate Division issued five years of post-release probation instead.

“We ... accord great deference to the jury’s opportunity to view the witnesses, hear the testimony and observe demeanor,” the decision reads. “Upon reviewing the record here, we are satisfied that the verdict of guilt was not against the weight of the evidence.”
