Sagaponack Will Stick With Southampton Town Cops

Village accepts town offer to patrol Sagaponack around the clock during summer season.

The Sagaponack Village Board decided on Monday to keep the Southampton Town Police Department as its police agency thanks to a new agreement reached with the town, 27East reported.

The town board agreed to provide the village with 24-hour patrols during the busy season — May 15 to Sept. 15 — and then keep a squad car in the village limits from 8 a.m. to midnight during the off-season.

The village board had explored the costs of creating its own police department to provide more coverage for residents.
