Sagaponack Man Arrested for Arson

On Saturday, April 19 at 5:49 a.m. Southampton Police received a call advising them of a fire at 187 Dune Road in Water Mill.

When the police arrived a fire was in progress and much of the house was engulfed in flames. Fire departments from Bridgehampoton, Southampton, Sag Harbor, Amaganasett and North Sea and Hampton Bays reported and successfully extinguished the fires.

Southampton Town Police, the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad and the Southampton Arson Squad are investigating.

Town Fire Marshals and Suffolk County Fire Marshals also responded to investigate the incident.

At 2:30 P.M. Saturday, Southampton Town Detectives arrested David Osiecki, 54 years of age, of Sagaponack. Osiecki was charged with one count of Arson 3rd Degree, a Class C- Felony. Osiecki was additionally charged with Arson 5th Degree, a Class A-Misdemeanor, for his involvement in a prior brush fire in the Bridgehampton-Hayground area.

Osiecki was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters. He was held overnight at the Southampton Town Police Department and he will be arraigned at Justice Court at 9 a.m.
