Sag Harbor Police Log: Man Charged with Felony DWI

The following information was supplied by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

arrests for the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6:

Driving While Intoxicated

• Brendan H. Clavin, 23, of Sag Harbor, was arrested Jan. 31 at 2:57 a.m. and charged with felony aggravated DWI. The charge was elevated to a felony as a result of a previous DWI conviction. Police said Clavin was pulled over on Rysam Street in a 1999 Toyota Corolla after he failed to stay in his lane while speeding on Division Street. Police said Clavin smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage and he performed poorly on sobriety tests. According to an Intoximeter, his blood alcohol content was .23 percent, police said, nearly three times the legal limit. Police said a baggy of marijuana was in his front pants pocket and another baggy was found in his waistband. Clavin was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, as well as speeding and improper lane use, both traffic infractions.

Driving Without an Interlock Device

• Carlos G. Morocho, 31, of Sag Harbor was arrested Feb. 6 at 10:11 a.m. and charged with driving without a court-ordered ignition interlock device, a misdemeanor. An interlock device prevents a car from starting if the driver has alcohol on his breath. Police said Morocho was speeding southbound in a school zone on Hampton Street in a 2000 Chevrolet. Police said they checked his license with the DMV and discovered it had been revoked for a prior DWI charge and suspended for failure to pay a fee. He was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and speeding in a school zone, a traffic infraction. He was released on $200 bail.
