Sag Harbor Police Log: Man Rescued in Stolen Boat

Police say Sag Harbor man called the Coast Guard when he lost his way.

Grand Larceny, Unauthorized Use of a Boat

• Steven Zeltmann, 27, of Sag Harbor, was arrested April 20 at 6:25 a.m. and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, and unauthorized use of a vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. According to the arrest report, Zeltmann contacted the Coast Guard to say he was lost at sea in the Peconic Bay area and did not know where he was. The Coast Guard found Zeltmann far from Peconic Bay, southeast of Fisher’s Island, in a vessel reported stolen from Sag Harbor, police said. He was taken to Plum Island and handed over to Sag Harbor Village Police Department custody. The owner of the vessel retrieved it from Plum Island, off Orient Point.

Driving While Intoxicated

• Amber C. Defilippo, 31, of Astoria, was arrested April 24 at 12:07 a.m. and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors, and failure to stop at a stop sign, a traffic infraction. Police said Defilippo rode through a stop sign on Main Street and when she was pulled over her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and blood shot. She performed poorly on sobriety tests and then was arrested, police said.

Bad Check

• Anthony J. Steward, 44, of Westhampton, was arrested April 19 at 12:51 p.m. and charged with issuing a bad check, a misdemeanor. Police said Steward wrote for $2,630 on April 3 that did not clear. Steward was released on $200 stationhouse bail.

Aggravated Harassment

• Christopher J. Gettling, 36, of Southampton, was arrested April 23, at 1:29 a.m. and charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Gettling repeatedly made harassing phone calls.
