• Michael A. Abbate, 33, of New York City, was arrested June 24 at 2:58 a.m. on the Long Wharf and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Abbate sped onto the Long Wharf while tailgating another vehicle, then backed up unsafely into a parking space. According to the arrest report, while a police officer was interviewing a different driver, Abbate walked up and started speaking to them both. That's when the officer ascertained Abbate was drunk, police said. Abbate performed poorly on sobriety tests and failed a prescreen breath test, according to the arrest report. He was held overnight for morning arraignment. He was additionally charged with speeding, backing up unsafely and following to close.
