Sag Harbor Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Noyac House
Fire broke out Friday afternoon.
A fire at an unoccupied Noyac home Friday afternoon caused significant damage — but Sag Harbor Fire Department volunteers put out the flames before they caused the house to become a total loss.
The fire was located in the rear corner of the second floor of the house and quickly extinguished, according to a statement. A portion of the residence sustained smoke and fire damage.
Southampton Town Fire Marshal Brian Williams said the fire started in a storage area of the attic, though the cause was not immediately determined. The fire remains under investigation.
East Hampton Fire Department sent a rapid intervention team to the scene to stand by as a precaution. RIT intervenes if a firefighter becomes trapped in a building. Bridgehampton Fire Department stood by at the Sag Harbor Fire Department headquarters.
No injuries were reported.
