Police: Officers Respond to Burglar Alarm, Find Marijuana Growing Operation

A Water Mill man turned himself in Monday after police said they discovered a marijuana growing operation in his basement.
said the department's Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at 29-year-old Jonathan F. Kaye's house at 864 Cobb Rd West on Friday after officers had responded to a burglar alarm there and discovered the growing operation.
"Items seized during the warrant execution included growing lamps, watering mechanisms, drying containers and numerous live marijuana plants, as well as an additional quantity of marijuana set to dry," police said in a release.

Police said Kaye turned himself in at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and was transported to for arraignment. He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree and criminal possession of marijuana in the third degree, both felonies, and growing of the plant known as cannabis by an unlicensed person, a misdemeanor.
