A Southampton man was arrested Friday on charges that he sexually abused a 10-year-old child in Hampton Bays in the spring of 2011.
said that 34-year-old Pedro Vladimir Quishpe is being held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside in lieu of $15,000 bail. Det. Sgt. Lisa Costa said Quishpe came to police headquarters at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday and after a discussion with detectives he was placed under arrest.
Quishpe is charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a felony, as well as forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
Costa said Quishpe was known to the victim, and it was a one-time incident, rather than repeat abuse.
A hold was placed on Quishpe by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said police, who added that no further information on the case would be released "due to the sensitive nature of this crime."
