Police: Investigate Possible Drowning at Sammy's Beach


The East Hampton Town Police are investigating a possible drowning at Sammy’s Beach near the Three Mile Harbor inlet.

On Sunday night, at approximately 7:19 p.m. two men at Maidstone Park Beach saw James A. Weber, 45, of East Hampton, collapse into the water on the west side of the Three Mile Harbor Inlet. They pulled Weber, who was unconscious, from the water, initiated CPR and called police and emergency personnel.

The rescuers continued to administer CPR until emergency support arrived. Weber was transported to Southampton Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The East Hampton Town detectives and the Suffolk County Medial Examiner are investigating the death. They ask that anyone who saw the accident or has information to contact their offices at 631-537-7575.
